CIPD Scotland was my first client as a freelance consultant, and I have worked with the CIPD ever since.
I provided full event management for the annual Scottish conference for 16 years from 1999 – 2015, including speaker sourcing and management, venue management, sponsorship and exhibition management, production and AV management, literature writing and production, marketing, and overseeing the event budget, supported by a small team of volunteers from CIPD’s four Scottish branches.
We were delighted that the success of the event was recognised at the 2013 Scottish Event Awards, managed by The Drum, where we won Best Conference for the CIPD Scotland Centenary HR Conference.
I also managed a number of smaller one-day conferences including the annual CIPD Scotland student conference, a one-day conference on employee engagement, a joint event on leadership with the CMI at the Scottish Parliament, a roadshow to launch the new CIPD Scotland, and the annual event for HR Directors at a variety of venues including the Scottish Parliament, and on board the HMS Duncan, organised in partnership with the Royal Navy.
Since 2018 I have worked with CIPD for two days a week, focusing on marketing and communications for Scotland and Northern Ireland including promotion of the annual conferences in Scotland and Northern Ireland, the CIPD Northern Ireland Awards, and a wide range of member engagement events.
